But by the time I was building my first websites for commercial use , PHP had taken over. Writing unit tests or mock objects in PHP is an exercise in constant frustration.

Only Cake PHP requires more than 100 milliseconds. As before, Raw PHP is also very strong in this test. Again, Raw PHP makes an extremely strong showing. PHP with an ORM and Cake improved dramatically from last week''s test thanks to configuration changes recommended by the community. Ruby 2.0.0-p0. Load simulator.

Or you might have an investor (or founder) who's convinced that you need to work in a given language (some VCs love Ruby right now). Misconception #1 - "You can build things 10x faster in Ruby." Bottom line, you really are not seeing that much different between Ruby/Rails and Groovy/Grails in terms of development speed.
