I was visiting as part of Terrapinn Private Equity World, a leading private equity conference for the Latin American technology community. In addition, Miami is already sometimes called the capital of Latin America, and logically it may soon be viewed as the capital of LatAm tech as well.

This is already happening, but there will be an explosion of rolling funds, operator angels, and micro investors who want to co-invest in friends, companies, and cohorts they are a part of. Maybe the founders are the micro VCs we have been waiting for? 7/ SaaS roll-ups and micro-private equity become huge.

In a prior life, I served as a consultant to Goldman Sachs Special Situations Group, Carl Icahn’s organization, and some other very large private equity investors. I saw “ portfolio operations ,” i.e., levers to enhance the operations efficacy of portfolio companies, become a standard part of the private equity toolkit.
