David Teten

Lose My Number, but Skype Me Maybe?

Up and Running

'Do me a favor … tell me what a “phone“ is? . A device to call someone? What exactly constitutes a “call”? While you’re at it, what’s a “smart phone” anyway? And how much longer must I drag along this 9 digit distraction ? I don’t know about you, but my so-called phone is used to actually ‘talk’ to people about 10% of the time it is in use. Maybe less.

The Equity Kicker

'Inn0vation Matt3rs have analysed jobs listings by European VC backed companies by looking at the data on Ventureloop.com. There were nearly 1,500 jobs posted in the last seven weeks, which would mean c11,000 over the course of the year if that rate was maintained. These are jobs listings which I guess are a little higher than jobs filled, but the order of magnitude should be right.

Uber, despite its slogan, isn’t “everyone’s private driver,” it’s the upper middle class’s private driver. There are people in real need. And yes, cell phone penetration is amazing, but people are still hungry. So we need a fusion of the two ideas: the optimism of tech, so that policy doesn’t shoot behind the adoption curve, but the compassion to understand what probl
