There are lots of dead, old mobile phones around the edge, but none are mine. All of the computers in the house are too old to use a web browser. I can’t find my phone or my computer, but I know I have a conference call starting to finalize the shutdown of a company. I race outside and start screaming, “Where is my phone?”

The Maps SDK gives Unity developers the kind of ready-to-use tools Mapbox has already brought to mobile and the web. But until today’s release, doing anything with real-world maps in Unity was virtually impossible. Looking at the beta demos, we think the games built on this will look amazing.

By 1987 I was regularly using faxes and Federal Express (the only overnight mail I was aware of), but a mobile phone and email didn’t really show up until around 1993 for me. The web appeared in 1994 and a completely different method of communication started its long march into integrating in our universe.

While all the technology has changed, the problem has gotten substantially worse, as every web-based and mobile app now has some kind of contact info associated with it.
