Fenwick VC Survey: Q2 Funding Valuations Shoot the Moon. According to Fenwick & West’s latest Silicon Valley Venture Capital Survey , fundings in the second quarter of this year showed the highest valuation increases in more than five years. Internet/digital media and software was the biggest beneficiary of the rise.

Once you have a potential investor excited about your team, your product, and your company, the investor will inevitably ask “What is your company’s valuation?” How much is NewCo worth to investors at this point (pre-money valuation)? In the last six years half the VC’s in the space have disappeared , unable to raise new funds, and the number of biotech and device startups getting first round financing has dropped by half. And while the vast majority of Life Science exits remain below $125M, other sectors have seen exit valuations soar. WTF is going on?
