Typically, Pre-Seed rounds are less than $1M in aggregate capital raised. On April 10, 2014, I published a blog post, titled The New Venture Landscape , which explained why and how the venture ecosystem was shifting. Seed is the new Series A. (~$2M used get for building product, establishing product-market fit and early revenue).
