I started in 2007 with a thesis that my primary investment decision would be about the team (70%) and only afterward about the market opportunity (30%). I guess if you’re in high-volume, low-differentiation mode perhaps this is efficient for you. Co-founder discontent. You have to deal with CEOs who resign.

I describe this in part as the “Social Network” effect… not just the movie itself but the example of Mark Zuckerberg and many other high profile young founders as role models ( who can forget this image? ) Google started and is still headquartered in Mountain View, but they opened an office in SF at the end of 2007.
