Could we even could find 40 Stanford graduate students interested in being guinea pigs for this new class? While I had managed to persuade two great VC’s to teach the class with me ( Jon Feiber and Ann Miura-ko ), what if I was wasting their time? What if I was wrong? Would anyone even show up? But we could be wrong.

These founders have not managed, to borrow a phrase from Steve Blank , to create a scalable and repeatable sales process. First of all, it means that most aggregate measures of success, like total revenue, are not very useful. Start using some of those customers as guinea pigs for a self-serve version of the product.
