As a CTO, I can definitely say without a doubt that few people understand what a CTO does. When I tell someone I’m a CTO, I’m often met with a blank stare. Even when someone is aware of what a CTO does, they often have limited context due to the wide variety of CTO roles.

Another way to learn more about who’s speaking is to sort the conference program by category and find people addressing specific topics. He’ll talk about making a profit and making a difference in a conversation with New Media Ventures’ Christie George. Now he’s VP of engineering at Dropbox , where he’s seeing similar growth.

Recruiting has to be a top-three priority for any CEO, for any size organization. Brant and I came up with a process for recruiting that was so obvious in hindsight but yet is so rarely done.

You’ll get sales information from your VP of Sales, marketing information from your VP Marketing, tech information from your CTO and so on.
