A corporate investor can provide diversity on the Board as someone who thinks differently from independent VCs. Corporate venture funds are often referred to as ‘strategic’ investors because of the unique benefits they bring to the table. Conventional R&D can only address so many areas and it’s not exactly lean or fast.
