In 2012, MarketingSherpa posed the question , “Did optimization or testing demonstrate ROI in 2011?” They would perform a time period comparison, looking back 6-12 months ago when you started the campaign and comparing with the conversion rate you have now (linear analysis). It’s just really hard to measure it, post-hoc.
