When he returned home to Arkansas, he volunteered at the Heifer Ranch in Perryville and quickly fell in love with producing and cooking fresh food. The real driver was that we wanted to fund the café without borrowing money, so we decided to spend these three years doing a capital campaign. We did catering out of a church kitchen.
