In my case, I grew up in Connecticut and spent a fair amount of time in New York – all the while trying to start companies, relatively unsuccessfully. I like the mention of IRC, and would recommend Freenode as the best overall tech-oriented network. But at the end of the day, it is about a product being accepted.
