Paul chastises us by saying that morphing Customer Experience Management (CEM) into an enhanced acronym, CXM, does not create a new category, nor does it refresh what has been around for as long as businesses have had customers. He is right, and to his credit Paul saw the importance of customer experience and wrote about this in 2001.
