There are literally hundreds of platforms currently operating that connect investors and startups, and there have been at least a hundred others that have come and gone. As I’ve discussed elsewhere, Gust’s long-term goal is to serve as the infrastructure platform for the entire global, early stage finance industry.

In the end, the companies that were doing the best job with development were the ones that had their own operations offshore. In our weekly partner’s meeting yesterday, we ended up in a discussion about the progression of offshore development in a variety of portfolio companies. I am already seeing that happen.

The company is based in Cyprus with development centers in Belarus, Israel and China. Viber is quite global. Obviously, we index better in some countries (and worse in others), but it’s pretty much a global phenomenon. I think we will let the users decide if they want these operating systems. Maybe someday.
