He and his co-founder were both PhD’s in applied math who believe they can make some serious inroads on next generation search. There must be something really wrong with our business. However, you will be dealing with almost daily change, (new customer feedback/insights from a Customer Development process and technical roadblocks ,) as the company searches for a repeatable and scalable business model. Googles plan, for example, was simply to create a search site thatdidnt suck. They had three new ideas: index more of the Web, uselinks to rank search results, and have clean, simple web pages withunintrusive keyword-based ads. For example, dating sites currently suck far worse than search didbefore Google. Thats nonsense.

The problem is that many programmers have loads of talent with no product sense and business students have great designs with no way to implement them. Programmers feel exploited when they build out a product that is successful but are reluctant to admit they wouldn’t have been able to design the product themselves.
