Witness the recent Sungard deal and others. If the private investors are willing and able to pay $11.3b for a company then no public software company is sacred.

Given Marc Pincus’s voting control, being acquired is presumably not in the cards for Zynga and a take private or LBO would be nearly unthinkable in the near term so there’s little chance of an M&A situation to arbitrage. But at what point does Zynga become a value play?

In a lot of startups (especially good ones) the founder/CEO/leader is a customer-oriented sales person. Because of the virtuous feedback loop right at the center of the company, innovations for customer benefit come more rapidly. Even with bumps along the way, the major customer facing components add up to more and more success.
