A corporate investor can provide diversity on the Board as someone who thinks differently from independent VCs. Corporate venture funds are often referred to as ‘strategic’ investors because of the unique benefits they bring to the table. 475 of those have been formed in the last 5 years, according to Global Corporate Venturing.

From a strategic investor perspective this makes a ton of sense-more Intel chips in the home. One further thought to add is that Intel Capital announced it was setting aside $200mm for funding new digital home companies. I certainly applaud Intel for its efforts and am a big believer in the digital home.
