When the Federal tax laws were changed in 2018 to eliminate the deductibility of state income tax, I made the assertion, in the context of Startup Communities, that this would cause movement of people and companies across state lines, as this now created another layer of competitive advantage for states with no income tax.

You don’t have to be located in Silicon Valley to take part in a great startup community. If you’re motivated enough to start your own business and create something great from a simple idea, then you’re certainly motivated enough to jumpstart a local startup community. California’s loss is Nevada and Arizona’s gain. The housing crisis in the San Francisco Bay area is particularly severe, given the boom in Silicon Valley hires since the 2009 recession. Homes are being built affordably, quickly, and beautifully, and communities are forming around oWOW developments.
