Think of a plane the length of a 767 airliner (but with 30 foot longer wings and 8 engines rather than 2) whose only mission was to FedEx 70,000 pounds of nuclear weapons to the Soviet Union. All of this designed to make the plane if not invisible to Soviet radar, at least really difficult to lock onto and shoot down.

Most of the fighter planes used to support the war were based in Thailand , or from aircraft carriers (or for some B-52 bombers, in Guam.) In the early 1970’s the U.S. was fully engaged in the war in Vietnam. I was 19, in the middle of a hot war learning how to repair electronics as fast as I could. He’s Not Coming Back.
