SaaS reduces your sales cost but also means that VC is needed. Sellers get a lower cost of sale/shorter sales cycle and better revenue visibility. I learned this in the technology nuclear winter in 2002, when a 20% cut in IT budgets meant that no (zero, nada) new projects were approved. So VCs will need to invest.
