He grew up in Connecticut attended Yale undergrad and worked for IBM after graduation doing M&A, strategy and venture capital. Stanford was also the right place because of nearby Silicon Valley. My former Partner John Frankel of ff Venture Capital observes that 20 years ago, the defining movie of the generation was “Wall Street”. But now, the defining movie of today’s twentysomethings is “The Social Network”. It’s important moving forward that they expand their reach to other regions (particularly Silicon Valley).
