Flexible VCs typically purchase non-voting common stock, if they purchase stock (one even assigns their voting rights to the founders ). which they co-developed with Fenwick & West.

Before this South Korean wonder spread across the globe I had written about a trend in global audiences that exists when the costs of production are nearly zero and the costs of distribution are also nearly free. It would make a lot of sense for someone else to just come along and build our hardware and sell our software without paying for 15 people doing development and engineering, but nobody did that. Our value is built on the non-technical stuff, which relies on a network of people and resources that have taken years to develop.

This code convergence effort was supposed to save Microsoft substantial development time, and also - they tried to convince themselves - improve the offering since Word would have the same features on every platform. Legal wasn't used to distribution via IP enabled devices. Especially while assuring quality.
