Since no benchmarks existed, we enlisted our engineering department in a serious software development effort and wrote our own. Inside the covers of these publications our customers had said that it was the product reviews that most influenced their buying decisions. Now this is worth stopping and thinking about for a second.

And thus it is with the majority of open source software: Open source software is free if your time is worth nothing. I’m bracing my inbox for emails from disgruntled Gimp users explaining how charging for software is bad, commercial software is evil, and my mother dresses me funny. But I don’t buy it.

We already have some competitors in the vertical and while there is no point in trying to hide the actual idea, there are differences in the way we implement stuff that can get us an advantage over the competition. >> We not only told everyone what we did, we posted the source code and the blueprints online. Note the "new".
