To quote the Start Atlanta team, "like any good startup, we saw something perfectly good and broke it, in the hopes of building something even better." Start Atlanta is also looking for a few good sponsors. Well some folks are stepping up to evolve the concept of Startup Weekend.

Scott Dorsey’s Attributes of Great SaaS Leaders

A few weeks ago I was in Atlanta for Techstars Atlanta Demo Day and the Venture Atlanta Conference. I had a great time and it’s fun to see the vibrancy of the Atlanta startup community. My favorite keynote at Venture Atlanta was from Scott Dorsey.

A long time ago in David Cumming''s blogging time line (and not so long ago in mine) he wrote an article about the rise of the Atlanta startup bloggers and was kind enough to include FoG. You go there and you will see a long list of Atlanta startup bloggers and a few not so startup folks as well. I took my blogroll down quite some time ago but in no particular order these are the Atlanta area technology oriented startup blogs that I read on a regular or semi regular basis.

The Fall 2013 version of Atlanta Startup Weekend is taking place this weekend at ATDC. The 54 hours of fun kicks off on Friday night at 6:00 and concludes on Sunday night with the judging and awards. . While some angel funded startups have emerged from this fest (Skibit, Twitpay, and Synapp to name a few) it is mostly about meeting people and building relationships. After leading a few of these I have graduated to sitting in judgement at the end.

Last night at the end of the work day I walked down the hall at Atlanta Tech Village to a The Founder Institute info session. Reflections on Venture Atlanta

So on Wednesday I wandered down to the big fish tank for Venture Atlanta. I skipped Venture Atlanta in 2011 as I was running around the Southeast expanding our business. I had not stage pitched my own company since 2005 and the last time I did something as big as this was when Venture Atlanta was known as ION and somehow I got elected to pitch CipherTrust. Venture Atlanta is a great forcing event.

Venture Atlanta Presentation

Thought it would be helpful to share my Venture Atlanta presentation. Eleven slides to tell the story in six minutes. Put this together starting with a blank in about a week. Few words. Large fonts. I wanted people to pay attention to me, not the slides. I wanted to freedom to modify the words of the presentation after it was submitted. I actually thought about using no slides at all but was talked out of it. Half Off Depot Presentations Startups Venture Capital
