Be prepared to cross the desert - SaaS requires R&D and sales expense up front for a multi-year stream of revenue, so it demands enough investment capital to fund 4+ years of runway. Between the worse data aggregation method and the much higher amount of work Wesabe made you do, it was far easier to have a good experience on Mint , and that good experience came far more quickly. spent $20 million to get back to the same revenue that I had when I was CEO. We had the wrong business model.

Aggregated, that’s a lot of money. based in emerging markets: Russia, China, India. There’s a few proven business models on the net – don’t just rely on advertising because by definition, if you don’t have a massive audience to begin with, you’re revenues are bound to be LOW.
