But of course, the model had us requiring only $10M equity to breakeven and to achieve $185M in revenues in 2008 (the magic Year 5 in all business plans). However, each financing resets the clock as new investors are looking for a multiple of their investment on exit. As I said up front, I have mixed emotions about the financing.

I used to hear from investment bankers that a company north of $100 million in revenue and consistently profitable can find a welcome public audience. But recent conversations that I have had with bankers has carried a different, even more depressing message.

The easiest new source of revenue for the city would be areas where there’s already lots of illegal economic activity that doesn’t get taxed at all, but where legalization would actually bring regulation and improvements—namely, vices. 2) Cut the police budget. Fred Wilson agrees. 8) Bank the underbanked.
