New entrants with seemingly endless amounts of cash are creating strong competitive pressures (think Amazon, Netflix, Apple) forcing incumbents to change their business models (e.g. Second Life has been around since 2003, has over 30m registered users of which about 500k are active monthly. This is not new either.

Ann will be speaking at this year’s Lean Startup Conference in October about all of this and more. The first time was just for a couple years, from 2001-2003, before I went to grad school. Then above that is business model power—so, how do you make money? I've been in venture now twice.

The best composition is probably one engineer whose passion lies in the pixels on the screen and another engineer whose passion is making bits fly really fast through servers. one quick question – so is it just the situation that all those “business school&# types are screwed? Sorry, folks. Harsh, but probably true.
