Trying outrageous new things or even trying mundane things but in new ways but with extreme quality & innovation is what fuels the tech startup industry. Yet I can’t help thinking there are many predictable failures that come from a lack of basic planning.

Did I mention it only took the founder a month? We're not in a nuclear winter--and if anyone tells you that they're having trouble raising money, it's probably due to the following: Their business isn't killing it, so they haven't gotten to that "next level" you need to get to move up to Series A funding. There is no fork.

I have a personal diligence rule that when speaking to people at large companies, the facts that they tell you are very useful but their opinions about startup ideas no more valuable than any other smart person’s opinions).
