Yesterday I sent emails out passing on participating in two seed rounds for companies I really like. They had lots of investors trying to invest and each company was competitive with two other seed stage companies we’ve seen in the past 30 days. Finally, we believe strongly in active engagement as a seed investor.

This particular company, as a B2B SaaS business, would definitely benefit from driving traffic to convert into subscribers or leads on their email list. So, when should they — or any seed-stage startup — think about drumming up some PR and making noise around funding? They aren’t great demand-gen channels.

Some angel investors join together in syndicates. Because seed firms are companies rather than individual people,reaching them is easier than reaching angels. Just go to their website and send them an email. The fact that seed firms are companies also means the investmentprocess is more standardized.
