A given customer would have an entity URL that looked like this: customer://1234 Somewhere in your API, you have a way to access data about a given customer. Im talking about the actual data-fetching operation. Whichever API you use, URL-based sharding is very easy to understand. In some cases, you can make it even simpler.

In 2008, we couldn’t find a technical co-founder for Yipit. The tech aspect is mainly writing and reading from a database and you might build on top of an API.
