AIM Screen Name: DFNfrozenNorth. Ideas dont have a lot of value by themselves, they tend not to be unique, and by staying secret a startup gives up the chance to get valuable feedback from prospective customers and partners. They told us that the name on the business cards was a code name, and that the logo was deliberately misleading.

Are you inventing new technical solutions to a problem? Blogging tools, video hosting services, image hosting services and the like, all make this a very accessible place to start up. In other words you are outsourcing the technical aspects of your startup. But it sure does seem to help!

I’ve talked with a number of software development shops who are eager to get into the business of cofounding companies, i.e., getting product revenue and equity instead of just consulting revenue.
