When it’s an older firm (say Fund X or XII) it is often the 3rd generation of leadership, it has historic rules & norms that haven’t been fixed, it has skewed economics and an unclear mission. So Silicon Valley massively shifted to San Francisco. Thames Valley shifted to East London.

Luckily (or maybe because we were in Silicon Valley where there was a domain expert for everything) there was a very smart consultant in the retail computer space, Seymour Merrin, who preached about the importance of packaging. He had teamed up with a former product manager at P&G to deliver seminars on just this subject.

Events and Conferences : Yale Innovation Summit , Yale Cyber Leadership Forum , Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance (with focus on innovation). Zoom in on a growth sector and take leadership there. It’s important moving forward that they expand their reach to other regions (particularly Silicon Valley).
