So it makes sense that we all use the same social media network and a single search engine that learns and gets better based on every search that is entered into it.

Christensen suggests that capital gains tax should decline with the length of time an asset is held (we used to have that in the UK), and tax incentives to invest in longer term riskier assets are also a good idea (like the EIS scheme here in the UK). The good news is that a lot of this is happening already.

No matter how you feel about Congress’ efforts to change the tax classification of VC profits from capital gains to ordinary income it’s worth a read (and keeping an open mind). While I wouldn’t say that I’m a “fan” of government, I’ve always been of the mind that some level of government safety-net is appropriate.
