Gust

Richard Branson image via Wikipedia. The buzz from startup executives, especially high-tech ones, has long been that startups are no place for Baby-Boomers (1946-1964) – you must have the high energy and crazy determination to work 20-hour days to succeed. Only the under-35 age group need apply.

Putting 2012 To Bed

A VC : Venture Capital and Technology

I'm typing this on my phone as our plane is starting to descend into the NY metro area. We will land at JFK within the hour. I've wanted to write a year end post for days. I actually wrote one and stored it as a draft. But it comes across as a whiny complaint about the shitty year that 2012 was. And it was in many ways a shitty year for me. But the reason I couldn't publish that post is it didn't capture the greater picture that 2012 represents for me. I moved every year as a kid.

Falling In Love With Computers

Constantly Learning

The first computer I ever used was an Apple IIe. My elementary school had a computer lab and if you went to school early, you could play with computers instead of the playground. Some of the cool kids would go to the computer room, so I followed. We learned to use LOGO and BASIC along with playing video games like Karateka. These computers, which booted on 5 1/4 floppy disks, were amazing to me and the other kids.
