At this week's One Million by One Million roundtable, we announced a very important partnership with MAD Incubator, Malaysia for entrepreneurship development in the region. This is our first major partnership with an incubator whereby MAD will adopt the 1M/1M methodology to foster Silicon Valley-style technopreneurship in Malaysia.

As you know, we have already announced two partnerships with MAD Incubator in Malaysia and the IAN Incubator in India , and have several other such relationships in the pilot stage. Enterprise clients for whom Private Workplace was introduced are a minority at oDesk, but this minority brings the bigger part of the revenues. In our customer service team we have a hundred freelancers, in our trust and safety team we have another hundred, in our engineering team we have close to 150. Who needs freelancers?

The same applies to Malaysia, where our partner, the MAD Incubator, is in search of 10 good deals to put through the 1M/1M program. An ad-supported network, the company has achieved over $1 million in revenue and is profitable. Today, the Indian scenario has improved greatly, but still the issue of lack of a mature deal flow remains.

It created awesome companies, but the army doesn’t do ecommerce, or much mobile, which are now the biggest growth engines in startups. We don’t care about short term revenue. My last investment is an enterprise company from Malaysia that went global from day one. Eden - we have mandatory service in the army (18-21).
