We’ve been remarkably consistent on this dimension as well: five of the recent 13 investments were B2C, five were B2B, and three you could categorize as B2B2C. Lastly, given our Boston location, it isn’t surprising that seven investments were Boston-based. BUSINESS-FOCUSED (B2B). Network Effect B2B.

It’s true that we also fund more mundane stuff like B2B software aimed at productivity improvements but we want some big bets in every fund where we feel we can contribute to “making our own little dent in the universe” as the saying goes – by backing ambitious entrepreneurs with that same goal.

Old assumptions about geography are increasingly being challenged – with huge consumer wins emerging in Boston (CarGurus, Wayfair, Simplisafe, Pillpack), great B2B companies emerging in NY (Flatiron Health, Mongo, Datadog, etc), and unicorns emerging in smaller tech markets and overseas. .
