So far, I have found "lean startup" works better with the entrepreneurs Ive talked to than "agile startup" or even "extreme startup.") I spent a few days in March in Ann Arbor Michigan as a guest of Professor Thomas Zurbuchen , Associate Dean for Entrepreneurial Programs, and Doug Neal , Director of Center for Entrepreneurship in the Engineering School at the University of Michigan. The Engineering School has 5,600 undergrads and 3,000 graduate students.

Stanford had a Customer Development loop going on inside their own lab. The discoveries in tube and circuit research suggested new electronic intelligence and countermeasure techniques and systems; in turn the needs of the Applied Lab pushed tube and circuit development.

But theres no denying the level of support for entrepreneurs that we enjoy. Every summer, they bring approximately 10 companies to Boulder for an intense "accelerator" experience (dont call it an incubator, or youll get dirty looks). They take common stock, not preferred, a fact that the entrepreneurs mentioned to me many times.
