I think you’ll also see more intentional syndication of seed and series A rounds with like-minded co-investors teaming up together and splitting rounds more intentionally. In a FOMO world, seed and series A investors are more likely to extend beyond the bounds of their stated strategy to get access to companies.

Brentwood Associates [Silicon Valley] –> Founded in the early 70s and focused primarily on VC, Brentwood had big wins in both IT like Wellfleet Communications (big chunk of what eventually became Nortel) and WebTV (part of Microsoft) and healthcare (various businesses that make up a big chunk of what is now Medtronic and Baxter).

1) Qwikster May Have Different Owner in Longer Term – It was obvious before and it’s explicit now… the future of Netflix is digital distribution. Im a former Silicon Valley entrepreneur turned East Coast VC. But I think there are some two longer term impacts that we will see in the 1-5 year time horizon.

The founders felt that having a legitimate site for content would discourage Silicon Valley VC’s from funding entrepreneurs to create the next big TV killer. Once this new service became popular then the media companies could control the rules of distribution & advertising. The Road Ahead? Hulu hinted at greatness.
