The “private sale” market phenomenon was started in France by Vente-Privee (literally means “private sale”) and was replicated in Germany by BrandsforFriends. When going for a trade sale, you always look first beyond Germany's border for a buyer, preferably a Google, Amazon, Facebook, eBay and so forth. Syndication works well across borders in the EU as many of UK's and France's funds are ever more active in Germany. It doesn't necessarily just have to be German funds.

Of course, the sales folks had new features as their #1 priority. But the results were excellent - customer satisfaction, sales, profits, quality, attitudes all improved dramatically. The major change was never starting any project without sales, marketing, manufacturing, field support, purchasing, etc. What a freaking mess.
