We used these tools to keep pace with the Soviet threats and eventually used silicon, semiconductors and stealth to create an offset strategy to leapfrog their military. Pete Newell and I have spent a lot of time bringing continuous innovation to government organizations. That approach doesn’t work anymore. Newell ran the U.S.

Then in 1978, the Iranian Revolution happened, and you know, it was a religious revolution, and the folks who were associated with the Shah or the wealthy families et cetera were not safe and not welcome in Iran. We had a terrific time - despite being in the midst of a pretty tough neighborhood, the country''s innovation economy is absolutely booming.
