The movie, “The Social Network” might have had more of an impact on creating future entrepreneurs than any other event of the past 5 years. LP contributions to VC firms shrunk from 2000 and by 2005-2008 had stabilized to around $30 billion per year. Thank you, Aaron Sorkin! There are 20x more consumers online.

Spun off from Freewebs in 2008, based in Palo Alto. This lasted from about 2001-2004. CEO- Randy Breen (ex-EA, and LucasArts). Total raised: $30mm.

I’d like to explain as best I can my opinion on what is going on because most of what I hear from entrepreneurs is not only wrong but is reminiscent of what I heard in 1997-2000. That was written in September 2008. In September 2008 this was the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers and the rippling effect was massive.

For example, MySpace might have been the best social networking site around for connecting with friends, but the overbearing profiles and flashing backgrounds pushed me away. There are other social networks that look more aesthetically pleasing. To design like a teenager in 1997 using MS publisher is incredibly painful.
