Sustainable growth: Prioritise sales efficiency over growth at all costs. A founder should know (more or less) what milestones she can achieve with the current round (in terms of product, revenue, etc). The press took notice, especially since just a few months later startups were laying off employees en-masse to cut costs.

Rising inflation and interest rate hikes, growth in debt to GDP ration, the war in the Ukraine (and global instability), increases in prices of energy, changing consumer habits to a post Covid-19, supply chain issues, etc, might be all contributing factors to the stock market (and tech in particular) declines. Multiples by vertical.

The startup didn’t work out, but I found ways to be around it, whether it was on the sales side in Goldman for a few years.
