They “don’t care what people ate for lunch.&# They’re fine on their existing social networks, which these days mostly means they’re happy with Facebook. Traditional social networks are more restricted to people whom I already know and information and updates are less discoverable.

However, Elgg could power 100,000 networks and it would make no difference - there is no revenue stream as we give everything away under a GPL license. There are quite a few other Software Development Companies in Southern California working on open source and/or freemium business models. in Computer Science.

Tech Events / Meetups - In Los Angeles, There are lots of Networking Events in Los Angeles and Southern California that are techie oriented. Do you have dollars to pay for development? Ask your friends to do the same.

Sometimes, Ill use LinkedIn to contact my network, but mostly I still just go to their profile and email them. When I recently was looking to find people who had experience with using social networks to reach people for what might be considered guerilla marketing efforts, again LinkedIn worked great. in Computer Science.

Its also been interesting to see the interaction of tools involved - Social Networking, Blogging and a Discussion Group. The level of resumes we get through our LinkedIn networks is top notch. Weve also found that other social networks such as FaceBook and MySpace to have almost no results when it comes to recruitment.

The conversation centered around a founder who's key question is "Where Do I Find a Developer for My Startup?" In this particular case, because mobile development is hot, it was pretty unlikely that this founder would find someone with experience with mobile development willing to jump on this.
