Alerts and monitoring I use nagios and ganglia to implement both system and application level monitoring and alerting on the overall health of the production cluster. Examples of things I monitor are the numbers of user activations, active users, and aggregate page hits to user galleries.

Typically, Pre-Seed rounds are less than $1M in aggregate capital raised. Unless every aspect of product development is covered by founders who are only receiving equity, there are other parts of building a product that will require hiring highly qualified people.
