It took me 8 startups and 21 years to get it right, (and one can argue success was due to the Internet bubble rather then any brilliance.) No internet, no blogs, no books on startups, no entrepreneurship departments in universities, etc. Hope to audit/attend your class in the fall.

So they insist on having the final say on when a feature is "done" enough to show to customers. Heres my diagnosis of his problem: He has some automated tests, but his team doesnt have a continuous integration server or practice TDD. In companies with a strong engineering culture, the engineers pick quality.

As an aside, I worked with JEGI two years ago and they did a fantastic job helping us sell Moreover Technologies to Verisign. They understand the media and online world, are well connected, and work diligently to get the job done. Companies are bought and not sold.

You show this by giving completely generic arguments to one line sentences from his post. If youre in a market like pharmaceuticals, where all user testing can be done in a lab, execution in a bubble makes sense, but if your startup is a web product it sounds like hubris. Ideas are worthless when theyre another spin on a web 2.0
