In this model, you take some fraction of the lifetime value of each customer and plow that back into paid acquisition through SEM, banner ads, PR, affiliates, etc. Paid - if your product monetizes customers better than your competitors, you have the opportunity to use your lifetime value advantage to drive growth.

I just finished the book, Superboys ( Amazon affiliate link ), which tells the story of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the original creators of Superman. But the boys from Cleveland never saw anywhere near the same kind of wealth that DC Comics, Warner Bros. and the rest received. And that’s a shame.

Here in DC we have Launchbox Digital, but it has no clear university affiliations as far as I can tell. Accelerator programs are an excellent opportunity for universities to put some small money into new ventures, but have much broader and quicker opportunities than TTO guided opportunities.
