Last week New York was the third state to create a program – called the International Innovators Initiative (IN2NYC) – based on the construct of the Global Entrepreneur in Residence program. The first program was in Massachusetts and is a state driven initiative. IN2NYC is by far the most ambition program to date.

The Global Entrepreneurs in Residence (GEIR) Program brings international entrepreneurial talent to the CU-Boulder campus and community. strong interest in, entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, and leadership.

Meanwhile, the fastest-growing group female entrepreneurs are women of color, who are responsible for 64% of the new women-owned businesses being created. – 9 businesses (11 entrepreneurs) went through first Longmont accelerator.

Yesterday, CU Boulder announced a new Entrepreneurs in Residence program to be administered by the Silicon Flatirons program. While the program is open to any entrepreneur, including those in the US, we are particularly focused on international entrepreneurs. We have a broad model for engagement in Boulder for new entrepreneurs.

James Barlow , the Director of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program for The Gordon Institute at the Tufts School of Engineering was also in the meeting. I believe strongly that accelerator programs like TechStars have become a very effective “education program” for entrepreneurs.
