Of course, I’m a total social login fan, but at least offering your users a choice between filling out a registration form and signing up using their social account IDs seems like straightforward business sense. Declaring success based on measuring Likes in aggregate is like declaring success after getting a lot of Visits to your site. But not, ever, in aggregate.]. Virality is also really interesting (again, actual human interaction), people who "create a story from your post" (share etc). I will personally hate you.

Measuring viral adoption is obviously important. How many social networks, picture sharing sites, new aggregators or blogs can we really spend time on? How many adds came through organic SEO? How many through affiliate deals? How many through SEM? Do you have a customer referral program? In 6 months? In 3 months?

So my advice to many is to study online companies that understand how to use technology for audience development, engagement, viral distribution and subscriptions. It’s one of those things that even smart, socially-liberal people fall prey to. Here is an example.
