The Canadian government announced on Thursday it will launch a new program on April 1 to encourage startup founders who will (hopefully) create new jobs and spur economic growth in the country. The program is the first of its kind in Canada and is being pitched as “a powerful incentive to attract individuals with great potential.”

This journey started for me about seven years ago on 9/10/2009 when I wrote the blog post The Founders Visa Movement. Canada created their own Startup Visa. In response to the non-action from Congress, I co-founded the Global EIR Coalition with Jeff Bussgang and Craig Montuori. The UK created an Entrepreneur Visa.
